The Challenge: Dental hygiene habits often lack consistency. SmileCraft Health set out to solve this by gamifying oral health education to make it fun, engaging, and rewarding for users.

Phase 1: Understanding the Problem My Role: I was responsible for leading the end-to-end design process, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, UI design, animations, and illustrations. Initial Research: Conducted surveys and interviews with potential users, dentists, and young users to understand pain points around oral health habits. Found that 70% of users needed motivation to follow a consistent oral hygiene routine.

Phase 2: Designing the Experience Goals: Simplify oral health education with gamified elements. Ensure the app maintained medical credibility while being fun to use. Core Features: Gamification: Introduced challenges, rewards, and streak tracking to incentivize brushing twice daily. Progress Tracking: Designed a dashboard to show personalized oral health progress. Educational Content: Integrated bite-sized, interactive lessons to teach proper brushing and flossing techniques. Design Process: Wireframes: Developed low-fidelity prototypes to map the user flow and ensure simplicity in navigation. UI Design: Created vibrant, playful visuals that balanced professionalism with fun. Animations and Illustrations: Added dynamic feedback animations to celebrate achievements, like earning rewards for brushing streaks.

Phase 3: Launch and Results Key Results High User Interest: Achieved 250+ downloads within the first month without extensive marketing. Engagement: 60% of users completed at least one brushing challenge within their first week. Retention: 20% of users returned daily during the initial month to complete brushing challenges. Positive Feedback: Early adopters, praised the app's gamified approach to teaching oral hygiene. Scalability Potential: Identified opportunities to expand features based on user feedback, such as integrating more challenges and personalized brushing tips.

Designing SmileCraft Health was an incredibly rewarding experience! It allowed me to apply a wide range of skills—from user research to animation—while learning valuable lessons about UX research and understanding user needs, even within the constraints of a limited budget. Working solo on this project taught me the impact of having direct influence on a product’s outcome. With great power comes great responsibility! I’m deeply grateful to the founders and the team for the opportunity to collaborate with such talented professionals. The experience not only pushed my skills to the next level but also allowed me to test my own limits.
